The annual British Violin Making Association Makers' Day event proved to be a resounding success, bringing together students, makers, and enthusiasts for a day of hands-on creativity and collaboration. Students thoroughly enjoyed the experience, with many stepping up to volunteer and contribute to the event’s success.

BA (Hons) Musical Instrument Crafts (Violin Making and Repair) degree students took on volunteer roles, with Paul Davis, a second year student, serving as the Volunteering Coordinator. Their efforts helped ensure the smooth running of the event, which attracted a diverse crowd, including future students and established makers.

Two attendees who have already applied to the School expressed enthusiasm about joining Newark College's School of Musical Instrument Craft in September 2025. Additionally, several makers and restorers showed interest in supporting the school further, with potential guest speaker opportunities.

One of the highlights of the event was the opportunity for students to showcase their work.

Pieces submitted were played by the renowned Kreutzer Quartet, giving students a unique platform to hear their creations come to life. Students relished the opportunity to witness their craftsmanship in action!

Particular attention was drawn to students Louis's viola and Ben's cello, which captivated both musicians and students from other schools, reinforcing the exceptional talent fostered within the BA (Hons) Musical Instrument Crafts (Violin Making and Repair) degree programme.
