Learners and lecturers from the Musical Instrument Craft department at the College worked together to engage with the local community and give them a taste of their talent.

The Gate to Southwell Festival is a local music festival that describes itself as a ‘roots and acoustic’ music event.

The festival provides locals with an array of music, from those just starting out to established acts.

Student, Symon Fobbester said: “I just want to help people find the College that has made such a difference to my life.”

Guitar Making Lecturer, Adrian Lucas, added: “This was a great opportunity for our students to engage with members of the local community to talk about their work and what we do here at Newark College.

“It was great to see them speaking with people who are interested in how a guitar is actually made.

“The students were also able to show them their work and that a guitar can be made by hand, by an individual.”
