A significant boost has been given to aspiring piano technicians following the generous donation of six upright pianos from Yamaha UK.

The pianos, which will be used for hands-on training in piano tuning and repair at Newark Piano School, were delivered with the support of The Institute of Musical Instrument Technology (IMIT) who kindly covered the cost of transporting the pianos, and David Fry, for coordinating the transport and ensuring their safe arrival at the College.

Piano Tuning and Repair Course Coordinator, Simon Topping, highlighted the importance of the donation. He said:

“Having access to a greater number and variety of instruments makes a huge difference to our students.

"It allows them to develop practical skills more quickly and confidently, working on real pianos in a structured learning environment.

"This donation will have a lasting positive impact on the training we provide. We would like to thank Yamaha, IMIT and David Fry for their continued support.”

The addition of these six upright pianos will enhance the learning experience for students, offering increased opportunities for practical work and helping to prepare them for careers in piano tuning and repair.
