The Fiddle Race 2024 saw four teams of BA (Hons) Musical Instrument Crafts (Violin Making and Repair) students battle it out to complete a violin from scratch within a three day deadline.
The theme for the 2024 Fiddle Race was ‘Arching Madness’. Four teams of students had just three days to create their Violin and ensure it hit the brief.
Ludivine Brouillet-Smith, Level 4 Violin Course Coordinator and Teacher, said: "The Fiddle Race offers students an overview of how to make an instrument quite quickly, in a team, which builds their resilience and is a different way of making things much quicker than you normally would.
"This worked quite well this year. We had very good results and we're looking forward to continuing again next year!"
Second Year Violin Making and Repair student, Alex, added: "We just completed the annual Fiddle Race and it's been quite a fun experience.
"It's my second year doing this. Every year you learn a lot. You learn how to work fast, how to become less precious with what you do and how to work as a team."
On Wednesday 18th December, a prize giving ceremony at the Violin School celebrated all the students' hard work and crowned the winning team.
