Teaching Guitar Making & Repair from 2025
Born and bred in the English lake District, Nick moved to Nottingham in 1993 and has worked for a charity supporting people experiencing homelessness ever since.
His guitar-building journey began with evening classes at Newark in 2013, two years later embarking on the Foundation Diploma on a part-time basis. As one of the first cohort of degree students, he graduated with a BA (Hons) in 2023.
A love of the classical guitar repertoire led him to focus on building classical instruments both traditional and not so traditional. Highlights include a Nomex double-top, and a ten-string guitar making use of sympathetic resonances - inspired by the collaboration between Spanish virtuoso Narciso Yepes and renowned maker Jose Ramirez III.
Nick undertakes setup and repair work, continuing to build instruments that take his fancy.
